Testimonials
Superb hostess, nothing was to much trouble.Spectacular views from the front of the property. Hearty breakfasts that set you up for the days sightseeing. Fresh flowers in bedrooms a nice touch. Have stayed in 5* hotels that have not been as good as the Lodge.
MrsLovely house with great views across the bay. Owner very helpful.
StephenWe loved the welcome , the comfort, the decor, the breakfasts. Nothing was too much trouble. The bathrooms and rooms were spacious, modern and super clean. Service excellent. To sit on the sun terrace of an evening watching the harbour was heaven. Nothing to pick fault fault with unless you are searching for 100% perfection for 100% of people.
JacquelineWe enjoyed our stay at Englewood Lodge and will definitely go back again. The food and service were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
Georgethe helpful friendly staff made my stay most pleasant.
Anonymousthe owner worked hard to make sure we had everything we wanted. She was friendly and the room was fantastic. Rather a lot of steps to the front door and you have to walk right past the downstairs bedroom window. The doors to the bedrooms have glass panels and needed heavier curtains than were on them.
PatriciaThe Lodge was welcoming from the first moment that we met the owner, brilliant holiday and a brilliant host. I cannot think of anything wrong regarding Englewood Lodge.
RosemaryMargaret couldn't do enough for us. Very pleasant, dependable, and clearly understands the value of great customer service. Our room was spacious, well furnished and clean. Facilities overall were very good. Breakfast food was excellent too. No issues with recommending a stay. Depends on your personal preference regarding mixing with other guests, but the breakfast layout was one table for 6 guests. If you like your own space, you may opt for breakfast in your room which I think would be offered knowing Margaret's attitude to ensuring customer satisfaction! On one occasion during our week stay, we had to wait for our breakfast sitting due to the table being fully occupied, a minor inconvenience. Englewood Lodge is in Onchan, so a short drive out of Douglas, and it is very near a stop for the Electric Railway which is useful. However the location is no problem if, as I would suggest, you hire a car (or take your own over). For me, a car is desirable for seeing more of the lovely island anyway.
JohnI liked the lovely welcoming atmosphere throughout the stay during my holiday. The owner was very attentive and helpful without being intrusive. Good venue for a single traveller/holiday maker.
MarjoryEverything, Margaret (the host) was lovely, the hotel was perfect and the rooms were excellent. I only stayed for the one night, but wish I could have stayed for longer. Highly recommended. Yes, the fact that I hadn't booked to stay longer
AndrewThe attention to detail throughout and the desire to please. Ease of parking. The food was good value and freshly prepared to order.
Ianmargaret the owner chef and cleaner was very welcoming from the time we set foot in the door, nothing is to much trouble for this very hard working lady. the room was spotless and a great view over the bay i would reccomend this b&b to every body looking to stay on the island none what so ever
PeterEnjoyed the innkeeper's friendly, helpful attitude. Great meals served at end of day when we didn't want to go out. Attention to details in room. A great bargain for all the service. Unable to see the sign.
AnonymousExcellent facilities. Very welcoming. Friendly, efficient and extremely accommodating staff. All efforts were made to make myself and my colleague feel at home during our brief stay. Will definitely return and reuse this facility when in the Isle of Man on business. Excellent family/tourist accommodation also.
BrianThe lodge was very clean, and the ower was incredibly helpful and accomodating, provided a excellent welcome, and would definately recommend A little way out of douglas, but if you have a car or bike that isnt a problem
DavidExcellent quality 5* bed & breakfast establishment. I would happily recommend to friends
AnonymousLovely sea views. A frendly host who provides high quality accommodation and food in an informal setting. Would highly reccomends and have already booked for a further stay.
Petermargaret the owner ,chef, cleaner, and even partime taxi driver for the guests is one of the best hosts i have had in the isle of man and i have been visiting the island for over 25 years. we arrived early on the early morning ferry and even got to check in early .throughout our stay ( my daughters first at the tt) nothing was too much trouble for margaret .roll on our next visit.my advice to anyone thinking of visiting Englewood Lodge add a couple of days to your visit.

Kevin and AngelaDear Margaret, Sheila and Peter wish to thank you for receiving us so warmly in your lovely B&B in the Isle of Man recently. We both enjoyed our visit and appreciate your kindness and friendship which made such a difference to our trip down "memory lane" after almost 30 years since we were last in the Isle of Man. If we get the opportunity at a future date we will definitely hope to stay with you and will of course recommend your 5 Star home to everyone that we meet. With kind regards and our best wishes, Yours sincerely, Sheila & Peter Thompson 24th Sept 2011
sheila & peter thompsontestimonial: I found owner Margaret to be friendly, hardworking and very accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and the option of a freshly cooked evening meal on request was a useful extra. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and super clean. House overlooks Douglas Bay, making for lovely views from the conservatory and front-facing bedrooms. There is plenty of space for guests to socialise and relax out of their rooms if they wish. It did not bother me but some guests may by slightly uneasy with the breakfast seating, which is on a shared table with other guests, but Margaret hopes to change this in the not too distant future. I can't recommend this B&B enough. 23rd August 2011
annette lordtestimonial: Superb location with magnificent views accross Douglas Bay. Margarets attention to detail is legendary. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms and meals excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here. 05 July 2011
barbaraCould not have asked for better, the rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. The food was excellent and Margaret is a wonderful host, would highly recommend this B & B. 3rd June 2011.
vicky johnsonWe have just returned from a wonderful two weeks at Englewood Lodge. Margaret is the most helpful hostess we have ever met. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Our room was excellent and spotlessly clean. We fully recommend this marvellous accomodation. And the Isle of Man is a fescinating holiday venue. There is lots of intesting history, wonderful scenery and plenty of cliff and glen walks. Public tramsport is good but we were glad that we had a car so that we could visit places which were not visited by buses. Dorothy and Donald 11th October2010
dorothy crowtherThank you Margaret for our lovely stay and your generous hospitality. Englewood lodge is 5* rated i would give it 10*, i have been visiting the isle of man for nearly 30 years and this is the best place i have ever stayed while visiting the island. I will definitely be visiting Margaret again. The room was very spacious and clean fresh fruit in the room everyday. The breakfast table was great sitting round chatting to the other guests or you could even sit in the conservatory admiring the sea view meeting all the other guests was fabulous and very friendly. We used all the public transport and the tram stop outside came in very useful. We would recommend Englewood lodge to anybody. 14th Sept 2010
tony mason'Mine Host' Margaret is a lovely lady. Most helpful and couldn't do enough. The Breakfast was fit for a king and the surroundings first class. Although just over a mile outside of Douglas it is Ideal for active middle aged people who want comfort in a peaceful area. My wife and I will return in the future without hesitation and I highly recommend Englewood Lodge. Couldn't find a fault at all. 20th May 2011
